Pet-friendly apartment demands dogs stay silent at all times, tenants mock rule with sarcastic signs and management folds: 'It was hilarious watching people try not to laugh'

Pet-friendly apartments can be a blessing until you realize some landlords use the term "pet-friendly" as a marketing gimmick rather than a genuine policy. Sure, in some cases, pet-free housing makes sense. When my brother's chocolate lab was a puppy, he ripped up the carpet and ate chunks of drywall while my brother was at work. Let's just say my brother didn't get his security deposit back and ended up paying a hefty fine when he moved out. I wouldn't be surprised if that landlord immediately updated the lease to say "absolutely no pets, ever again."

But on the flip side, some landlords try to squeeze extra cash out of tenants under the claims of being pet friendly. When I moved into my last place, I couldn't believe I had to pay a pet deposit on top of a monthly pet rent. Then again, maybe they had a previous tenant like my brother and ended up with a drywall-munching lab, but still…
